Washington - For a second year, SMI, Inc. has served as a platinum corporate sponsor of the 7th Annual Turkey Trot for Hunger. Together with Honorary Chair Mayor Adrian Fenty, thousands of participants and volunteers turned out for Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk, which is organized yearly by DC's So Others Might Eat (SOME) to benefit hungry and homeless men, women and children throughout the year.

Many competitors came as families and company teams for what has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition. Before sitting down to holiday meals with their families, SMI employees, joined by President and CEO Ted Lynch, bundled up in hats, scarves, leggings and gloves for the chilly morning Trot, which raised money for disadvantaged members of our community.

"SMI's trotters are honored to serve the community by sponsoring and participating in such a worthy cause," Lynch said. "It's important to remember those less fortunate among us and to lend our help when and where we can. SMI looks forward to continuing its support of SOME and the Turkey Trot for years to come."

Corporate sponsorship of the Turkey Trot directly supports SOME's programs for the poor, including meeting clients' basic needs such as meal programs, medical care, elderly services, affordable housing and assistance for those struggling with addiction and mental illness. SOME has been actively involved in the DC community for almost 40 years.

"The Trot for Hunger would not be possible without the generous support of corporate sponsors like SMI," said SOME's Special Events Director Tracy Monson. "SMI's enthusiastic support of and participation in the Trot for Hunger has helped the event to grow markedly over the past two years, attracting an increasing number of community members who want to help the homeless on Thanksgiving Day."

SMI is a comprehensive government relations firm built on the principle that our ability to add value is maximized only when we are capable of fully understanding our client's technologies, products and organization.
