R&D for Spray-Dried Plasma
Client retained SMI to help promote its spray dried plasma technology within the Department of Defense and other agencies in the federal government.
SMI introduced client to the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC)’s Combat Casualty Care Research Program. Through that relationship and introduction, SMI assisted client in putting together a multi-year, $27 million project to launch Spray Dried Plasma technology commercially in the US and Europe.
While the Army ultimately could not secure funding for the client proposal, the Combat Casualty Care Research Program became a strong advocate for the client's technology.
Less than 12 months after client submitted the SMI supported BAA response to the Army, BARDA sponsored the technology with an initial $8.9 million contract that has a potential ceiling of $38 million.
