James Zheng, Ph.D.
Dr. Zheng served as the Director of Technical Management Directorate, and Chief Scientist for Project Manager – Soldier Protection & Individual Equipment, Program Executive Office – Soldier. He holds two patents and has published more than 70 scientific papers. His achievements include receiving a 2013 Office of Secretary Defense – Manufacturing Technology Achievement award and a 2002 US Army’s Greatest Invention Award for developing DOD standard body armor system, the Interceptor Multiple Threat Body Armor. Dr. Zheng obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1981 and Master’s degree in Physics in 1984 from University of Science and Technology in China. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Physical Chemistry from Purdue University in 1991.
