Dr. Anna Kushnir
Dr. Kushnir supports SMI’s robust portfolio of clients in medical technology. Prior to SMI, Dr. Kushnir served as the Director of Biosurveillance Programs and Business Development Coordinator for Gryphon Scientific, a research and analysis company that provides technical support to the federal government. Dr. Kushnir led efforts including technology foraging and assessment, literature review and analysis, as well as modeling of preparedness and response strategies to intentional and natural disease outbreaks on behalf of a range of federal clients. Dr. Kushnir supports university investigators and industry clients in securing non-dilutive federal funding for research and development from the NIH, BARDA, DTRA, and multiple other agencies within the DOD. Dr. Kushnir has been successful in guiding academic investigators to securing NIH R-type grants (R01s, R21s, R15s) and SBIR/STTRs from both the DOD and the NIH. Dr. Kushnir holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in Virology from Harvard University.
